Dunlap,TNI wish these had existed "back in the day"! I have really thick hair that I'm growing out again, just as I'm seriously getting back into ballet. I thought I was done with buns, lol, but these pins make the process so much easier and non-painful!

12/05/2015I love these hairpins, but the packaging is a pain to deal with. It can be impossible to screw the top off sometimes because of the flimsy screw-top design, and on numerous occasions I've resorted to cutting the container open. These are the best hairpins I've ever used, they're durable and sturdy, but the packaging is a downfall.

11/22/2015These pins are live up to the description but not exactly to the hype. They are very solid, I don't feel like anything could bend them out of place. Because they are open (unlike normal bobby pins), they hold the bun together laterally and vertically. In a pinch, I can use only one pony tail holder and 2 of these pins and my bun would stay in all day! They also have very nice coloring. My hair is darker golden blond so usually my choices are either white platinum or very deep brown but the "blond" shade in these pins is really perfect! However, these pins are sort of difficult to put in and take a bit of practice to do well. Also, I wouldn't suggest these to anyone with with thinner or short hair because they will stick out. In general these are convenient but I don't find them necessary to life, and normal hairpins are cheaper.

08/20/2015I love these hair pins. I was very surprised by the quality. I can see these pins lasting a long time...very durable. No bending when inserting.

04/14/2015My daughter has long thick straight hair and keeping a neat bun was always a challenge. With these I can quickly make a bun that stays in place and gets her through class with no problems. Way less tears and frustration in our house since we found these.

12/10/2014We'd always used standard drug store hair pins, and they've worked just fine, but my daughter pestered me for a set of these. I have to say, I wish I'd gotten them sooner. These are just vastly superior. The longer length really sets a bun, and the thickness prevents bending, so you know exactly how they are going to fit in there. I do think that the price for twelve is a bit crazy, but when you only need four or five to hold long, thick hair in a very neat bun, you cannot complain. Plus, you're less likely to lose them because they are thick and heavy and you can hear them hit the floor (not that they ever seem to fall out anyway).

11/27/2014These hairpins are so many levels above the old cheap ones that bend and break within the first use. I have very unruly hair, and I usually have to use a lot of the old hairpins to get all my hair secured, as well as a hairnet. With these I don't even have to use all of them, which is incredibly nice. They're so easy to put in, it takes less than a few minutes and you're performance ready.
The one downer is that if you stick them in really securely, they start to dig into your scalp which is really uncomfortable. But I think the way the pins hold your hair is much more important than comfort, so I don't mind too much.

03/25/2014These pins have been a God send for my daughter's hair which is long and thick. They stay put and don't push back out at me. I've used them in finer hair and they work just as well.

04/12/2013My hair is so hard to get into a bun, usually I would have to use two hair elastics, about 17 bobby pins, hair gel, and a whole lot of hairspray. Now all I have to do is twist my hair into a bun, put in 4 hair pins, add my hair net, and i'm good to go!!!
For best use here are my tips.
1. When you are putting these in first push them straight down on your head (Yes this does hurt a bit)
2. Next push them down and in towards the bun
Hope this helped! Awesome product!!!!!

03/19/2013These do fall out if you do not secure them the right way!
TIP NUMBER ONE: put them in so the two ends are lying on the head rather than up and down
TIP NUMBER TWO: try to poke the ends into the elastic of your bun to make sure they stay in play during pirouettes and such!
Overall these were a good buy and I'll keep buying these- the original bobby pins just don't stay as well!!

01/21/2013This product is great. They kind of hurt if the poke you in the head. They blend well with most hair colors.
*TIP FOR WHEN USING THESE*
If the "teeth" of the pin start to open wider, press them closer together so it become a less open pin. This way they will hold more hair, last longer, and won't fall out of your hair.

08/13/2012I always get these. I love using them for my hair. I would use at least twenty bobby pins to get a secure bun. I only use five of these to get my bun nice and secure. They do hurt your head a little. With bobby pins they would fall out of my hair and hit people in the face (even my ballet teacher) , but I never have had that issue with these! They do get lost easily (more or like I'll have a tube of them in my bag, then suddenly I'll only have one left, then in class everyone has good buns). Buy these! They are amazing!!!!

07/31/2012these are amazing and hold your hair SOOO WELL. i have curly hair and regular bobby pins never went through my hair and this works perfectly! when i straighten my hair it works just as well and they work great in wet hair too!
i always keep my bobby pins in a little bag and i never lose them so make sure that you save these or you will be buying more and more and these aren't very cheap unlike regular bobby pins which are like 25 cents.
also if you have a bun on the larger side, then buy 2 1/2 inch pins instead of 2 inch because they are too small and will fall out.
buy these! you wont regret it!

07/08/2012I used Hot Tools curved bobby pins before these (which I still love for securing hair not in my bun) but it would take me at least six of them + some determination to fix a proper ballet bun with my thick wavy hair. With these I use four or maybe three on a good day.
They're much sturdier and more flexible than your average pin. You can pinch them to make them thinner or wider without fear of breaking them. There aren't rubber tips at the end though, but you'll learn to avoid poking your head quickly enough...
The container is also durable enough to toss into a bag without worrying about it falling apart. I can't wait to get some more pins just so I can have a container for my regular pins!

04/11/2012its easy to put in, but sometimes it'll start poking your head duing dance which is kind of annoying. also, whenever you do any turns across the floor, be careful because they easily fly out of your hair and hit people! Happened to me 2-3 times in ballet class!

Quebec,I love these pins! I really like the size and the discount price is half as much as I would pay for them here! Next time I think I will try the larger size.
The only downside is that not all of them have a good knob on the end so they are a teeny bit sharp and sometimes hurt. Other than that they are absolutely awesome!

Oceanside,Before I started using these pins, I used 2 1/2" Amish pins to hold my buns but they were silver in color and didn't hold up against my turns unless I put them in so tight they hurt.
These pins match my hair color and usually hold my buns tight enough. However the 'usually' I use here is conditional because my instructor that I partner with has made it his personal goal to spin my bun right out of its hold every time he dances with me.
However, even though he does manage to spin my bun down, the pin stay locked around their piece of hair instead of becoming deadly projectiles like hairsticks do.
All in all, I love these pins, and I am never going back to the old way of holding my buns.

07/27/2010I have only had these for a month and I love them! I have thick and curly hair so the length of the pin is great and my hair doesnt move when I am doing jumps or turns at all! I am very happy with this product!

10/17/2009It took me forever to put up buns before, and the little 'thick' bun pins were a joke for my hair, they'd get all mangled and useless.
Fell in love with these the first time I used them! Only use 6 to 8 pins at a time. Get compliments on my bun all the time, and it stays tight and in place no matter what I'm doing... Only thing is occasionally the side of a pin gets shoved against my head and makes a sore indent, but that barely happens and buns are so much easier and faster now, I don't care! Get these if you're having problems with your bun! You never will again!

Cary, Nc,I love these hair pins! I have thick long hair and when using normal pins used by most, I had to use thousands each time to put up my hair! Even when I did, there were pieces of hair I could not get and they would not stay in my hair! With these hair pins, I can get ALL hair in and when I am in class and hear a pin drop on the floor I don't even need to check, I know mine stayed in! Also, many people tell me how good my hair looks and moms ask me how I do it! It is all thanks to these hair pins!

04/12/2008These hair pins work really well! Everybody in my dance studio uses them and they work for people who have really long or thick hair. The only thing is that in some lighting, they look kinda grey and not brown but that's not a problem for me cause my hair net and scrunchie covers it up.

California,These are amazing! I have light brown, really thick long hair, and I use the blonde hairpins, which completely blend in :) They work really well. My friend who also has really long hair completely agrees with me. If you have thin, short hair, these pins do not work as well.

Arkansas,Before I got these, my hair pins always came out because I have thick hair. But these hold when we are doing turns and anything else. You really should get these because they will really hold your hair in well.

04/08/2007I have really, really, thick curly hair and I only need 3-4 of these hair pins. I don't even use a hair net anymore! Occasionally, they slip out a little, but if you just put them in so they cover less hair, they give the same hold and no popping out. Great, great, great! Everyone should own these. Not to mention, since they are fairly big, you don't lose them!

05/06/2006These are awesome hairpins!!! I love them! I have very thick hair and these are the only pins that will work for me. They even work for putting your hair up normally during the day. A lot of the girls in my class use them too. I totally recommend them!
