I have been using these hairpins for 10 years now, and I love them. I have extremely long, very thick hair, and these pins do a great job of keeping my hair in place through various exercise and dance actions. They hold their shape well, and the wider "U" shape holds hair well for Ballet buns, French twists, and more.

snoleopard10/12/2015HEAVY DUTY
did a test run with my beehive, and man, these are heavy duty pins; i only used two on either side of my "bump" to hold it in place prior to my hair covering it, and it did the trick; i can see i may add one or two more for my evening out, but they do what I hoped they would - not flimsy, don't bend when you stick them in, and hold. Plus the blonde color is perfect; Pins this size seem hard to come by, and at first I balked at such a steep price for 12 pins, but now I see that they are really designed for a particular purpose, and they work, so I'm satisfied! (Also, shipping was fast!)

Anna201/09/2014THE BEST PINS ON THE MARKET FOR LONGEVITY
I have thick hair (4" pony circumference) down to my butt crack (35" long). When I use these, I twist all of my hair and back pin about five of these in as I go, and they by far hold the best out of any pin I've ever tried.
However, I don't use them. And I'll tell you why: the ends of these pins are not smooth and seamless, but rather have a sudden flat edge to them. This makes them uncomfortable to insert, for me. It breaks hairs as it goes in--you can feel it and hear it. Unfortunately, regular 3 inch hair pins don't hold nearly as well.
Of course, I'll mention that I'm rather tender-headed, so someone else may not have a problem with this at all.
A good in-between product is Amish hair pins. They are steel, do not bend like regular 3 inch pins, and are totally seamless--they insert and remove smoothly without catching on any hairs.

QueenMother07/04/2012PERFECT FOR MY NATURAL HAIR
I am not a dancer of means. I saw Bunhead hair pins recommended while researching styles for my loc'd hair. Bought 2 of the 3". One for me and another set for my best friend. Gotta tell ya. These are perfect. They are so comfortable even after hours of wear. In every style I've used; from shampoo to styling worked like magic. Two more style trys and I am convinced. Certain to throw away the countless of hair pins, bobpins that I collected and wasted money on...perhaps I can find a repurpose detail for them.

i got both the 2 inch pins and the 3 inch pins and they both work perfectly but get these if you have long hair!! the short ones barely reach through and fall right out but these ones go all the way in and stay there all day :)

I bought these not expecting any pins could actually get my long thick hair in a good bun but was pleasantly surprised. The key is to put your hair in an elastic and in a tight bun before attempting to put the pins in. So after the elastic has twisted your hair up, I go one north then south , the east west, then proceed between the gaps with the rest of your pins. This should take a minute or two. Good luck! If you need a little more punch go get the 2 inch ones. I had then for fly aways which I get because my hair is layered.
At dance practice this bun lasts forever, even doing attitude and leg stretches with your head on the floor- it won't get messed up.

Bink02/23/2010THEY DO WHAT THEY'RE SPOZEDTA
These hold my slippery fine hip-length hair in a Gibson Tuck without sneaking out. They are nearly as thick as the steel Amish pins, but have some waves and a bend in them to keep them from directly sliding out. The Amish pins are great for a non-demanding updo, but these Bunhead pins are better for anything tricky with some tension to it. Love 'em. The Longhaircommunity forum turned me on to them. Thanks!

Rachael10/07/2008 North Dakota,
These bobby pins are the best! I have fine hair, but a lot of it, and with these bobby pins, my bun never comes out! Perfect for stage and class. I have used them for years, with lengths of hair ranging from to my waist and to my shoulders and these always hold my hair! Even better--they never break!

Ann01/17/2007 California,SAY GOODBYE TO BOBBY PINS
What did I ever do without these hair pins? My daughter has thick, long hair, and to put it up in a tight ballet bun, and keep it there was always a chore...until I purchased these. Just 3 of these pins kept her hair snug, tight, and in place. Forget bobby pins - I used to use 8-10 of them to keep my daughter's bun in place. These are the best pins ever! You won't be disappointed. I also love pairing these with Bunheads hair nets as well!
